Thun
Thun is a city and municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland with about 42,136 inhabitants (near 90,000 in the agglomeration), as of 1 January 2006.
It is located where the River Aare flows out of Lake Thun (Thunersee), 30 km south of Bern. Besides tourism, machine and precision instrument engineering, the largest garrison in the country, the food industry, armaments and publishing are of economic importance to Thun.

Tourism
The stunning castle of Thun is a must-see. As you climb above the city you can see through the rooftops the beautiful alpine peaks covered with snow.
Upon entering the castle, enter the spacious Knights Hall, where some layers of armor can be found. From here, the city of Thun and its alpine scenery spread out in front of it and is an ideal place to take panoramic photographs of the area.
The Schlossmuseum itself is worth exploring. It is spread over five floors and details the history of the building and the city. There are some very ornate antique tapestries to see and some exhibits, such as the mask of the Fulehung, a jester character celebrated during the folk festival of Thun, held every September.
From spring to autumn every second Sunday, you can ride a steam train in the Schadaupark.
There are a few ways to enjoy the beautiful Lake, the Boat being one of them, the other is to walk all the way around the Lake.
